In 1999, the founder of AAMN was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer.
She underwent surgery followed by radiation treatment. While under
treatment she was surprised to see many of her fellow cancer patients
undergo surgery but thereafter be unable to continue treatment because of
financial hardship. She promised herself that, she would to do something
to help these women survive the horrible disease.
In June of 2004, the property was purchased and construction began on the
Building that would eventually house AAMN.
At the same time, friends and companies joined as founding partners of
AAMN.
Without these founding partners AAMN would not be functioning today:
Outside AAMN Support
. INCA – Brazilian National Cancer Institute, through the INCA
- Selects and nominates patients under treatment to receive AAMN
services.
Dratec Engineering ( Dratec Engenharia Ltda ) – General contractor,
including providing labor, materials and services.
Outback Steakhouse – Support with fundraising events.
Rich Chicks – ( Frangos Rica ) – Food donations.
